Sberbank invites students from top Russian universities to ICC
  • 200 students with relevant specialization will participate in the II International Cybersecurity Congress.
  • Global deficit of specialists in the cybersecurity field will make 1.8 mln people by 2022.

Sberbank invites 200 students with relevant specialization from top Russian universities to participate in the Second International Cybersecurity Congress (ICC). This decision was taken during the first ICC because the majority of experts pointed out the lack of skilled professionals as the key issue in the industry. This conclusion is supported by the results of independent research that show that the global deficit of specialists in the cybersecurity field will make 1.8 mln people by 2022.

The students from Lomonosov Moscow State University, Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, Moscow Physics and Technology Institute (national research university), Bauman Moscow State Technical University, National Research University Higher School of Economics, Saint Petersburg State University, Saint Petersburg Electrotechnical University «LETI» and ITMO University will be able to participate in the business programme of the forum.

Stanislav Kuznetsov, Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board of Sberbank:
«It is a priority for us that the Congress facilitates narrowing the gap between the academic programme the students’ education is based on and the business needs. We engage students in order to set the right direction for the development of their expertise and as a result help raise their demand in the market».

The students will have a chance to attend the business programme events on both days of the Congress, listen to key experts on cybersecurity, receive information on Sberbank’s and ICC partners’ products at the event, get closer to the professional community.

Stanislav Kuznetsov, Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board of Sberbank:
«Russian universities don’t keep up with the rate of technological change and hence the needs of business. As for business, it should of course cooperate with the educational system — for its own benefit. The options of such cooperation could be supporting talented students and helping them grow, to the possible extent — partnership programs with universities. Investment in education is long-term but it will fully pay off over time».

The ICC is a unique international cross-industry platform for global dialogue between representatives of government agencies, international business leaders and recognised industry experts on the most pertinent and acute issues of cybersecurity in the context of globalisation and digitalisation.

The second ICC will be a key event of Global Cyber Week, an international week on cybersecurity that will be held on 17–21 June in Moscow. It will be the largest industry event in Russia and Eastern Europe. It will unite several industry forums which will be attended by representatives of Russian and foreign state institutions, international organisations and companies, as well as independent experts and researchers.

The Global Cyber Week will start with the technical conference on practical cybersecurity OFFZONE which will be held on 17–18 June. On 19 June, an international online training session on international business cooperation to fight against digital threats titled Cyber Polygon will be held. It will be possible to watch the participants’ progress online in real time.

The first ICC was held in Moscow on 5–6 July 2018. The congress united more than 2,500 participants and about 700 organisations from more than 50 countries. Russian President Vladimir Putin welcomed the ICC’s guests in his opening speech. The President is expected to visit the ICC this year as well.
